Composition
Each 100gm of ointment contains :
Wrightia tinctoria (Sevta Kutaja) (Roxb.)	R.Br	1.47 g.
Hemisdesmus indicus (Anantamul)	R.Br	0.37 g.
Azadirachta indica (Nimba)	A.Juss	0.37 g.
Rubia Cordifolia (Manjistha)		0.37 g.
Indian berberries ( Daru harida)		0.05 g.
Smilex china (Chopchini)		0.05 g

Action

The most important active constituent of Sveta kutaja is Tryptanthrin which has proven photosensitizing and melanocyte stimulating properties. In the presence of ultra violet light (sunlight) tryptanthrin induces melanocytes to produce more melanin and helps in the transfer of melanin from melanoutes to keratinocytes. Oxidative stress has been suggested to be the initial pathogenic event in melanocyte degeneration in de pigmentation disorders. Daruharida and chopchini reduces oxidative stress of skin. Manjistha is used traditionally to treat skin pigmentation problems.

Anantamul and Nimba along with other herbs helps in the normalization of the skin texture and colour. Additionally blood purifying effect of Manjistha, Daruharida and Nimba is highly helpful in maintaining a healthy skin.

Indication

Non segmental and segmental Vitiligo / leucoderma, hypo pigmentation of the skin, freckles and de-pigmented white patches surrounded by hyper pigmented border.

Direction for use

Apply ointment on the affected parts in the morning before bath and expose to sunlight for 10 minutes.

Duration of treatment

Use daily for a minimum of twelve weeks for initial results to appear. In most cases of vitiligo the white patches becomes spotted and then turns to dark / pink and gradually the gaps are filled with normal colouration of the skin. Continue application till the desired results are obtained.

Diet recommendation

Drink adequate amount of water. Vegetarian diet with lot of fruits, grains, pulses and nuts is recommended. Avoid non vegetarian diet, fatty food items and alcohol. Engage in regular exercise to reduce stress.
